Scouting has always played a role in times of national crises and this occasion is no exception.

Within 12 hours of the call going out for assistance the Leighton-Linslade Scout District had mobilised 20 volunteers and opened two of its Scout HQ to receive donations for the vulnerable. In addition the 1st Leighton Buzzard Scout HQ was deep cleaned and put at the disposal of the local government resilience forum.

After 48 hours scout leaders delivered much needed food parcels and since then have been responsible for the daily delivery of between 15-20 vital prescriptions, the reception of 30 crates of food donations, £150 in cash and the delivery of 1000 Easter Eggs.

Scouting is playing its part ,as it always has, and was proud to learn that others still value Scouting, labelling their performance as “ amazing “ at a recent resilience meeting.

Andrew Goddon Leighton Linslade District Commissioner said:

Baden Powell urged us all to “ Be Prepared” and to “ Help other People”  and the Scouters of Leighton Linslade have risen to his challenge and will continue to do so for as long as they are needed.
