Andrew hits the ground running as Bedfordshire Youth Commissioner
18th February 2016
Following the search process towards the end of last year we are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Draycott as Bedfordshire's first County Youth Commissioner.
Andrew will be instrumental in helping us deliver our objective to be youth shaped in partnership with adults and will provide a focus to bring together all the great work that is already going on across the county, allowing best practice to be shared for the benefit of all our young people. His first few months will be spent travelling across the county to really understand the needs of our diverse sections and ensure we provide the right support in all corners of the county.
Many of you will know Andrew from his roles in Ampthill & Woburn District where he is an Assistant Explorer Leader (a role he will continue along side being CYC) having previously been a beaver, cub, scout and explorer in the District.
We are really excited to have Andrew on the County Team and look forward to working with him to develop this really key area and ensure Scouting in Bedfordshire is truly youth shaped in partnership with adults.
On his appointment Andrew said
"Young people shaping their own movement in partnership with adults has always been at the heart of Scouting and I am excited to take on a role where I can work with all the fantastic volunteers and young people across the county to help them shape their own scouting wherever it takes place.
"I am keen to hit the ground running so would love to hear about all the great things already going on across the county, and would welcome the opportunity to visit as many sections as possible over the next few months. If you have a story to share or an event going on please let me know via firstname.lastname@example.org .
"I look forward to seeing many of you around the county in the next few months."
